Guatemala Caturra Coffee — Compact Bourbon Variety

Guatemala Caturra Coffee

What is Caturra coffee?

Caturra is a natural mutation of Bourbon discovered in Minas Gerais, Brazil in 1937. Its name comes from the Guarani word caturra meaning "small" — it is a dwarf and compact variety, which facilitates harvesting and increases yield per hectare.

In Guatemala, it is widely cultivated, especially in Cobán and Huehuetenango. It is one of the favorite varieties for experimenting with special processes such as Honey and Anaerobic.
